Greetings OCC! Summer is here! Can you believe it?
Over the next few Sundays, we have some wonderful things planned! Dina Hokanson has been working hard with the Teens for Teen Takeover this Sunday. I can’t wait to see and hear what the Lord has put on their hearts to share with all of us!
On June 9, we have Children’s Sunday and what we usually call Confirmation but we are calling “Level Up Sunday” for this particular class. These students have all chosen to be baptized as believers and one has decided to wait an extra year to be baptized. However, they are all ready to “level up” to high school ministry as they are all in 8th grade. We will be honoring them and we will be asking families to come up and pray over them. There will be a cake, celebrating this milestone their journey.
In other news, I’m very grateful for those who have joined the “After Party” discussions. While the discussions are not solving all the “problems” with politics that we wish it would, it has provided a helpful posture towards our own politics and towards those who view things differently. We have graphed ourselves on the hope x humility grid. We have realized that both hope and humility are important pieces of what it means to participate in politics (in any country) as Christians. If you would like to join us, please do! We have only met twice and we have 4 more to go!
Summer Sundays will begin June 16 – Father’s Day and Juneteenth! We look forward to celebrating together on that day!
