Most of you know that I like superhero stories. And every superhero has an origin story about how they came to have powers and do what they do.
One common origin story these days is that something caused them to have their DNA enhanced. It is still them, just supercharged.
We are starting a new series that is kinda about that. What about Orchard Covenant needs to either stay supercharged or enhanced so that it can stay awesome?
Pastor Karen already preached on three of the pieces, before she left:
Prioritize the Biblical agreement over cultural or emotional agreement. Let the bible speak into your feelings and your culture.
Empower Women so that the whole church brings its gifts and God is glorified in all.
Stay Intercultural; the interweaving of all peoples is God’s plan and our eternal future.
I have three more that we are going to add. All things that are already part of who we are. We just want to make sure they are enhanced and we don’t become complacent.
1. Make church about Mission.
2. Normalize generosity, minimize comparison.
3. Share power and maximize your gifts.
I will explain these things over the next month or so, but I wanted to preview them so that you can have “pre-thunked” them.
