Merry Christmas OCC!
Christmas time is almost upon us. It makes me remember my favorite pageant I was in as a kid. I don’t remember a lot about except for two things- my brother accidentally put his hand through the glass of the church door (!) and the theme of the pageant, which was “big things come in little packages”. I was the little present, and so I got to be the important present. I loved that. But the theme is quite true for Christmas. Love came down to earth as a newborn to a no-name mother in a stable. And from that tiny seed, the world was changed!
This Christmas, maybe take time to reflect on the little seeds that God has placed in your heart. Those places where God has been working on inside of you. You can trust that God will use those seeds to grow big fruit if you put your hope in Him. As James says, “see what big ships are steered by a tiny rudder”. The truth is that the spiritual life is marked more by the tiny course shifts than by the big epiphanies.
And have a blessed Christmas as we celebrate what God started through the smallest (yet biggest) miracle of all, baby Jesus.
Blessings,
Pastor Nick
