This Sunday, I will be starting a series on the 4 mission priorities that our church (and God’s church) has. I want to show you that these priorities are not primarily organizational (that is to keep the church building open) but theological. That these priorities were given to us by Jesus Christ himself as he was preparing to leave his disciples to return to his father. As we get closer to the time that I will be leaving Orchard Covenant, I can’t help but also want these things for you.
You have heard this before, but here are the four mission priorities:
Welcome & Fellowship, which is loving one another, and actively working to create space to make it easier for others to join the fellowship.
Make and Deepen Disciples, which is really just to say engage in discipleship from the beginning to the end. Bring new people into the kingdom of God, and then teaching them to walk in the way of Jesus better each day.
Serve Local and Global, it is not enough to contribute funds to overseas activities, nor we are called to care only about our local neighbor. We are called to partner in our local communities as well as the global community. A both/and.
Steward our gifts, which is to use what God has given us to expand it for the mission of God.
