Dear OCC,
Happy Fall! Fall is one of my favorite seasons. I love wearing sweaters. I love that the kids are back at school. This is Jake’s first season playing soccer and he’s actually really good at it, so that has been a blast for me!
This morning my devotions reminded me of one of my favorite verses: “I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living” (Ps. 27:13).
Last week I wrote about the murals all over Springfield. Where else do you see the goodness of the Lord? I see it in the way Jake plays soccer. I see it in the way we baptized so many kids on Sunday. I saw it in the way that Christina offered a song and so many joined her to sing. I see it in my Sunday school class. Several of my students are getting to know Jesus by watching The Chosen on TV. Incredible!
One of my friends decided to switch up the prayer before meals with her family. Instead of praying a memorized grace, they share 3 things they are thankful for.
What would it be like for you to share things you are thankful for? How does thankfulness mix in with grief? Can they be friends?
With gratitude for you,
Pastor Karen
