Wow! What a Sunday we had! Congratulations! It was incredible! AND thank you!!
Both Munch N’ Mingle (hosting Adam Edgerly, the Director of Covenant World Relief and Development) and the Talent Show and Spaghetti Supper was QUITE a feat! You did it!
Thank you for coming to support the students in the Talent Show and Spaghetti Supper. Several of you have expressed a desire to have the kids earn some of their support – particularly for camp – and this was our attempt to take a step in that direction. We know it was a lot for one day and we will do our best to spread events out better in the future.
If you missed the Spaghetti Supper and are interested in hiring a teen or some teens to help with some work you have, please let Dina Hokanson ([email protected]) know.
Also, I’d like to extend an invitation to anyone who is anxious about the coming election. I am hosting a six-week small group at church based on the “After Party: towards better Christian politics” discussion from 6:30 – 8:00pm on Thursdays May 9, 16 and 30 and June 6, 13, and 20. I am hoping that people from different countries will join the discussion because we can all learn from one another. The focus is not on the “what” of politics but on the “how” – valuing virtue and relationships. We will look at the political dynamics that Jesus was doing ministry in – hint – they aren’t so different from ours! There is a book for optional reading (reading is not required), but we will be watching a video together each time we gather and we will discuss this content.
I have been getting to know this content and it already working on me – lessening my anxiety and simultaneously challenging my actions and attitudes towards others.
Friends, I am so grateful for each of you. I am grateful for the many ways you choose to love, to forgive and to be generous, with not only your money but your time and energy. I pray that the Lord meets you this week. Even as we serve, let us remember to lean on our Lord who will lend us strength in our time of need.
